SMA Type 2 is a genetic neuromuscular disorder caused by the survival motor neuron gene (SMN1) mutation. Because of this mutation, the body does not produce enough SMN protein, which is essential for motor neurons. Without it, the nerves controlling movement weaken over time. 👶 Who Gets SMA Type 2? Symptoms usually appear between 6–18 months of age. Children with SMA Type 2 can sit without support, but cannot stand or walk independently. 🧠Causes Mutation or deletion in the SMN1 gene.
Why this campaign matters
Ishan Ghosh is courageously fighting Spinal Muscular Atrophy Type 2, a rare genetic disorder that gradually weakens the muscles and affects the body’s ability to move, sit, stand, and perform everyday activities independently. Children living with SMA Type 2 often require continuous medical attention, physiotherapy, respiratory support, mobility assistance, and specialized treatment to improve their quality of life.

Despite the challenges, Ishan continues to show incredible strength and determination every day. However, the medical care, therapies, supportive equipment, and long-term treatment required for SMA are extremely expensive and difficult for a family to manage alone.
Through this campaign, BLLWS aims to raise support for Ishan’s treatment, healthcare needs, therapy sessions, nutritional care, and overall well-being. Every contribution, no matter the amount, brings hope and helps provide essential support for a better and more comfortable future.
